Richard Loninger, DPM was born and raised in central New Jersey where he currently resides with his wife and four children. He completed his pre-medical training at Rutgers University in 1992 and then went on to the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York City. Graduating with scholarly honors in 1996, Dr. Loninger has compiled many awards throughout his academic career, his proudest being named The Emile Rose Scholar upon graduation. This award is given to the one student, who through academic testing, scored the highest in all academic material taught throughout the four years of medical school.
Upon completion of his academic training, Dr. Loninger then completed three years of rigorous surgical training of the foot and ankle. His training brought him to many outstanding health facilities including: Bon Secours Health System, Mercy Medical Center, University of Maryland Medical Center, and John Hopkins Medical Center all in the Baltimore MD area. He completed additional training at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ.
Dr. Loninger had a unique and valuable opportunity to do a fellowship with the founder of the Indian Foot and Ankle Society at the Royal College of Medicine in Ranchi India. While training in India, he gained great knowledge in the surgical techniques of complex, neglected, foot and ankle deformities. Dr. Loninger also had the opportunity to train with the pioneer of the non-surgical approach to heel spur syndrome called radio frequency lesioning which Dr. Loninger uses extensively in his private practice.
In 1999, Dr. Loninger had the opportunity to join the prestigious foot care group, Family Foot care, in the NY/NJ tri-sate area, where he is currently the Director of Surgery. He performs all complex reconstructive rear foot surgery, trauma and fracture repair, flat foot reconstruction, ankle arthroscopy and revisional surgery for the group.
In his private practice Dr. Loninger cares for all ailments of the foot and specializes in cosmetic surgery for bunions, hammertoes and corns by implementing a full array of plastic surgical techniques and minimally invasive surgery. With every surgical case Dr. Loninger strives to leave the patient pain free and with no apparent surgical scar.
Dr. Loninger is an attending Podiatric Surgeon at New York Westchester Square Medical Center, at which he has been given the most extensive privileges a foot surgeon can attain. His experience precedes him as a foot surgeon in New York City and the tri-sate area. He performs over a thousand surgical procedures a year. A devoted Evangelical Christian, Dr Loninger allows his faith, as well as his training, and experience to be a guiding principle in all aspects of his life.
